January 2016 - Fresh Start

January's Curator - Rachel Greenholt

Rachel Greenholt of McSherrystown, PA, is a health & fitness coach, wife and mother of three. In 2014, she decided to change her lifestyle and earned herself a fantastic pay off: She dropped 103 pounds! Rachel is a member of the Rising Sun Snack Club and we were thrilled to work with and learn from Rachel as we developed the January box with her.

Rachel has focused on "eating clean" throughout her weight loss journey. "When you eat clean, you're eating whole foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. When I was overweight, I was eating processed foods and our bodies have to process the chemicals and preservatives in them. Eating clean is so much simpler and our bodies process the nutrients in a better way."Now, Rachel helps others with weight loss. "It truly is no secret. Everybody wants it to be a quick fix, but it's about watching what you eat and being active. I know that for the rest of my life I will be moving forward in a healthy way."

January Snacks

RACHEL SAYS:

"There is no healthier way to feed that sweet tooth than with this bark! Dark chocolate is one of the best sources of antioxidants on Earth. In combination with the chia and blueberries, this luscious snack has protein, fiber, omega-3s, micro-nutrients, and minerals to decrease blood pressure, increase healthy cholesterol, and reduce the risk of heart disease."

RACHEL SAYS:

"We have hand-picked the best of the best nuts and fruits for you to enjoy in this trail mix. With each bite you take, you will be fueling your body with omega-3s, fiber, and protein as well as vitamins and minerals. Not only will this snack satisfy your salty-sweet cravings, it will increase your metabolism and digestive health."

RACHEL SAYS:

"Sunflower & pumpkin seeds are rich in fiber, protein, omega-3s, and antioxidants including zinc, and Vitamin E. Boosting immune, nerve, and digestive health, preventing cardiovascular disease, and acting as an anti-inflammatory are just a handful of the health benefits. In fact, the vitamin E in these seeds is so abundant that it has been shown to reduce the risk of colon, bladder, and prostate cancer."

RACHEL SAYS:

While you snack on these flavorful bites, you will be nourishing your body with fiber, protein, folic acid, and healthy fats to improve your cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease. The perfect choice for a crunchy snack!

RACHEL SAYS:

"This is my personal go-to flavor combination in a perfect sweet & chewy bite size snack. The fiber, protein, minerals, and vitamins found in these will improve your bone health, increase your metabolism, and will help to regulate your blood sugar."
